THE NEW PLANETARY BODY BEYOND PLUTO

UB313 - originally referred to as Xena - has now been officially named Eris after the Greek Goddess of discord & strife. Eris is the farthest known stellar object in our solar system at present and its mythological name is symbolic of the squabble amongst astronomers as to whether ‘she’ should be given planetary status or not.
“Eris' mythology of the goddess who was not invited to a wedding feast and her subsequent trouble making actions, will surely be inspiring many an astrologer to speculate as to what Eris’ significance represents in our Natal Birth Charts from here on. Eris’ myth tells us that she threw an ‘apple of discord’ in amongst the wedding party, which included the goddesses, Hera, Athena and Aphrodite. The apple had an inscription upon it which read : ”For the Fairest”. Each goddess at the wedding party presumed that the apple was meant for them of course – and so an argument ensued about who was the fairest of them all. It is said that this squabble eventually led to the Trojan War.“
For us humans on planet Earth, when a new planetary body is discovered and named in our solar system – it seems to bring something new into our consciousness, which we have not been aware of before. So what new insights is Eris’ discovery bringing us? As we ponder upon her significance in our collective consciousness and in our lives, there is bound to be many interpretations over these next few months and even years by many.
Certainly with the demotion of Pluto, Eris’ neighbourly companion, I wonder whether Eris as a feminine planetary body is not the counterpart of her brother, Pluto’s shadow?
From an esoteric soul perspective, transcending our egos and infusing our personalities with our soul selves is a much sought after goal, as we move forward on our individual soul journeys towards higher evolutionary consciousness. I, for one, am feeling that Eris’ role (of tossing in the Apple of Discord), is perhaps one of bringing our Ego selves to the forefront so that we can become more conscious of how our unbalanced Egos are limiting our forward movement and growth. For example, if I believe that ‘I am the fairest of them all’ than my Ego is coming from a standpoint of “I am better than others’.
Therein, lies the greatest challenge humanity is facing at the present time on the Earth – that is – the illusion of separation and exclusivity. ‘When I feel better or less than another human being, then I am separate from them – there is no longer a feeling of ‘oneness’ with my brothers and sisters.’ So perhaps Eris’ Apple of Discord is challenging us all to take a more indepth look at how our Egos are operating in our daily lives, especially with regards to ‘inclusivity and unconditional love’.
Discord and strife like separation create exclusivity and are opposite polarities to peace, tranquility, joy, happiness, oneness and inclusivity. If the three goddesses, Hera, Athena and Aphrodite had put aside their egos and compromised, by cutting the ‘apple of discord’ into thirds with each one taking one third, one wonders whether the Trojan War and ensuing chaos would have occurred at all! I believe Eris’ deeper message to us all is, that it is time to put aside our differences and egos and to evolve forwards in higher consciousness towards more ‘inclusivity and oneness’ with our fellow human beings. After all, we have all originated from the One Source, and will eventually return to the One Source.
