Fertility and the Lunar Cycle
The phase of the Sun and Moon at our birth reveals our most fertile and creative time each month when these two Luminaries return to that same position each month. Whether you wish to create a child, painting or literary work, you will find that your conscious and unconscious energies are at their most productive peak at this time.
Therefore each month a woman is at the peak of her fertility when the moon is in the same phase as it was at the time of her birth. For example, if she was born on an exact New Moon, then each month when the moon is at that phase, this is a peak fertile time and she is potentially able to conceive. Often ovulation does not coincide with this time, and therefore there is a second time in the monthly cycle for conceiving a child. This would explain the failure of the Rhythm Method as a contraceptive. The calculation of a woman’s lunar cycle is useful for both conception and contraception. For contraception, avoid unprotected sex at least 4 days before and 1 day after the peak fertile time. She would also need to be aware of her ovulation time and avoid unprotected sex then as well.
For conception, implantation would need to take place in the 24 hour period before the peak time. The sign the moon is in at conception indicates the child’s gender. If the moon is in a feminine sign (Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Pisces) then there a strong chance the child will be a girl. In a masculine sign (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius), then more likely to be a boy.
It is important that both parents be as healthy as possible before conception. Experts encourage women to eat a diet rich in folate at least a month before conception, as it is essential for a baby’s cell growth and preventing birth defects. The following remedies can also be useful:

• A combination of Flannel Flower and She Oak if conception does not occur within six months – to clear karmic blocks. Flannel Flower is also recommended by Ian White for low sperm count or other infertility problems in men
• Zinc – low zinc levels can affect a man’s sperm count as well as a woman’s reproductive health. See your local health food shop or naturopath for a liquid zinc taste test.
