The mythical Dragon is romantically symbolic of the oriental parade and represents the Emperor. They are magnanimous, fond of display, undiscerningly direct in their approach, and they seldom fail to be noticed. Like Frank Sinatra and Jeff Fenech Dragons are full of bravado and courage and will never back away from an encounter. Not being able to engage reverse gear can also be their downfall, as it was with flamboyant P.M. Gough Whitlam. In spite of the fiery bursts of emotion that blaze forth from the Dragon's tongue they are just as soon to forgive and forget. The Dragon is a performer on the world stage and desperately needs a meaningful script, like a hero needs a purpose. Black emancipation leader Martin Luther King shouted, 'I have a dream!' to the world and John Lennon was the inspirational leader of the most influential pop group the century. Dragons simply cannot sit back and watch the world spin, they want to be in there doing the turning. Often this stems from a tougher upbringing than others or the early assumption of domestic or extra responsibilities. Child star Shirley Temple exemplifies the public infancy but later found her own life direction. Like their legendary namesake the Dragon is seldom without company or admirers. Rats adore them, Monkeys and Roosters are friendly, the male Dragon suits the female Snake, but beware the Tiger, Ox and Dog.
