Greetings once again from the cave to all my avid followers!

I trust we are all ready to welcome in the New Astrological Year, with all its good and bad potentials.

The cauldron is on the boil, the bats and owls quiver in fear that they will be my next choice ingredient. I now begin my work, with a tantilizing aroma wafting throughout the cave, the cats salivating in anticipation of our meal and the soothing sounds of nightfall closing in.
[The semi-trailers racing past the door of my cave make it increasingly difficult to focus my imagination, but I will persevere.]

A question has arrived. The querant held a party and her son arrived with the music – 60 compact discs in a small zippered case. A good time was had by all, but when the son went to collect his music, it was nowhere to be seen. The querant is concerned that she has played hostess to a thief. (She is also concerned that she may have to pay for the cd’s.) The question posed is – where are the cd’s?

horoary chart

A chart is erected with 26 Pisces on the Fifth House Cusp. The fifth house signifies the son, so the ruler of Pisces (Jupiter) becomes his significator. The Moon is co-significator in a horary question, but in this instance it was not the son who asked the question, so this does not apply.

The cd’s (as the son’s movable possessions) are indicated by HIS second house ruler (now we’re confusing you by turning the chart). Venus is his second house ruler, because Taurus is the sign on his second house cusp (the 6th house cusp of the radical chart). Venus also describes the missing object, through her connection to music; and in the sign of Virgo – in an organized state – the zippered case.

We now look for where Venus is in the radical chart, and find it posited in the 10th house, not too far from the Midheaven. This indicates that the lost object is near its rightful place, because Venus is angular, and the 10th house relates to the formal room of the house. The party was held in the formal room. (No magic here, I asked the querant!)

The Moon is always significator of a lost object, as well as the planet which describes the item. In this case Moon is in the 7th house, another angular house, which is very positive for recovery. Both Moon and Venus are in mutable (meaning movable, changeable) signs – will this be pertinent to the question? And they are the only angular planets in the chart.

Both luminaries (Moon and Sun) are above the horizon in the chart, a very good indication that the missing object will be recovered. Why? Quite literally because the “lights are on” so the object can be seen. It’s just a matter of looking in the right place!

Another indication of recovery is that the Part of Fortune is conjunct the Fixed Star Regulus – a fortunate star. The Part of Fortune relates to the querant’s ‘treasure’.

So, I know that they will be found. They are where they should be, and in Virgo, an earth sign, they are close to the ground. I note that the Moon’s (lost object’s) next aspect is applying to square Jupiter (the querant’s son) in around 6 degrees; however it has to change sign before this aspect occurs. This tells me that something or someone else will intervene before the young man comes together with his cd’s. However, the judgement remains that they will be found.

I call the querant and tell her to look on the floor in the room where the party was held. She tells me she has already done so, to no avail. I tell her to do it again and proceed to enjoy my meal.

All is well in the cave for a while, the animals and birds are happy and the mood is one of contentment. Until the birds begin to twitter and fidget, and the omens hint of unrest.

The querant calls and tells me that she has still not found the cd’s and that she has moved the furniture in the room, searched thoroughly and they are definitely not there. I detect some underlying anger and disappointment from the querant. I calmly tell her to look again.

Her sister joins her the following weekend, and together they search the room, once again moving furniture, once again to no avail. The birds twitter and fidget, the anger this time is less underlying and the frustration is almost palpable. I tell her to look again. She grits her teeth, and (I’m sure) considers consulting another horary astrologer!

Then, a few days later, it happens. She is jubilant, they have been found. She realized that when she was sliding the lounge back and forth, the case, which was on the floor under the lounge, was gliding with it. Both significators were in movable signs!

The result was favourable to all in this instance. Patience and persistence were required, and the astrologer was pleased that the desired outcome was reached.

The birds and animals are at rest once more. All’s quiet on the cavefront as I await another testing enquiry. I shall spend my time in search of tasty tidbits for the next culinary masterpiece from the cauldron.
