Good Vibrations - Ascension and Easter the Libran Full moon and the Equinox March's Full Moon - March 21 2008
You must be the change you wish to see in the world. Mohandas K. Gandhi What a big Easter! We have the Spring Equinox in the northern hemisphere (the Autumn Equinox in the southern), a big full moon on the weekend and International Astrology Day on the 21st as well. This full moon is a real doozy, with Pluto forming a very tight grand cross with the Sun and the Moon and Mars, this promises to be a very dynamic Easter and one certainly pregnant with meaning and intensity, and very likely, change. The Sun is on Aries 2, the Moon on Libra 2, Mars is on Cancer 7 and Pluto is on Capricorn 2. This adds a real punch to emotions and events this weekend. Indeed, as with any full moon, it indicates elevated feelings being felt for some time to come. This time appears to be a particularly momentous time, with all that's going on globally - Tibet, Iraq, Sudan, the United States, all over the world, we are seeing major changes and it seems that we have to change with these changes. The Sabian Symbol for this full moon is one of ascension and transmutation. It's at Libra 2: The Light of the Sixth Race Transmuted to the Seventh. This can be a time of new beginnings—the implementation of a whole new order. A feeling of ascension is present here, with people approaching an entirely new level of living and operating. There’s a need to be with or communicate with people who have shared visions and hopes for the future. We have a choice: the fruits of past experience can bring either light or dark to the present.
The degree following the full moon (meaning the one we are to reach towards) is Libra 3: The Dawn of a New Day Reveals Everything Changed. This Symbol pictures new beginnings that can be sudden and unexpected. It’s like a new awakening; something new is taking shape and form and emerging into a ‘New Day’ and this ‘Reveals Everything Changed’. What was happening or evident just recently, even just the day before, has changed through an event or some shift of the mind or heart. Things are changed; things are new; they are somehow different. Some of the keywords for this degree are: New perspectives and realizations. Waking up to a whole new consciousness or sense of reality. Emerging from depression. Huge changes that erase things that mattered before. Radical shifts. Major life experiences. Being reborn. Events out of nowhere. Changes of fortune. Revitalized perspectives. Coming out of a sleep. How can we grow and yet continue to stay the same, doing the same things over and over? The degree of the Sun in this full moon is rather telling. It shows us how we often need to employ humor in order to lighten up the energy around us. Notice how the Dalai Lama often laughs, chuckles, vibrates with laughter even when he speaks of things that are very serious. Here's a person who knows how to really show his light side while addressing very serious issues. The degree of the Sun is Aries 2: A Comedian Entertaining a Group of Friends. Humor, laughter, lightness of being, seeing the lighter side all contributes to a feeling of lightness; something we really need during these times of high intensity and significant events. The purpose of our lives is to be happy. The Dalai Lama Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious. Anonymous The degree of the Sun directly after the full moon (and therefore what we should be striving towards) is Aries 3: A Cameo Profile of a Person in the Outline of Their Country. This Symbol asks us to realize how we fit into the big picture, what our relationship to the whole is, what our task, aim, goal, sense of self means. This is quite a big question, especially in these days when many feel a sense of alienation and disassociation from those things that were once important. As we can see with the Sabian Symbols for the Moon in this full moon, we're moving past the small notion of 'country' to a much larger awareness of the whole. What is your 'profile'? The degree of Mars is a wonderful one of lightness of being - it's Cancer 7: Two Fairies Dancing on a Moonlit Night - looks like we'd best get out our dancing shoes and enjoy the night and give into a bit of decent abandon. Getting loose, dancing and being rather wild would seem to be the prescription for this full moon, as is humor and happiness. It may be a bit of a challenge to see the light side with this full moon, though. The degree of Pluto asks for a healing and a sense of sanctuary and safety. The Sabian Symbol is Capricorn 2: Three Stained Glass Windows in a Cathedral, One Damaged by War. This is the degree that Mars was on during the attacks of 9/11. Mars on that day shattered many lives either directly or through being a witness to the shocking events. One should be safe in a 'cathedral', not threatened, not 'damaged by war'. However, many, many people are 'damaged by war' around the globe. How to deal with it? That's a big question and not one easily answered. One thing's for sure; we need to employ gratitude, grace, humor and kindness to all around us - and probably most of all, show these things to our selves. Mercury and Venus are showing us a path: The Sabian Symbol: Pisces 11: Men Traveling a Narrow Path Seeking Illumination. We must stay seekers on the path, not being distracted by irrelevant things, not being distracted by those who would deter us or give us detours from the changes we need to embrace. This is an extremely significant time - Saturn is on Virgo 4: Black and White Children Playing Happily Together. Here, we are asked to embrace each other without prejudice, judgment or rejection. Barack Obama is showing us something really quite amazing with his successes in the race for the U.S. Democratic nomination - he's breaking down many walls and doing it with elegance and grace. Regardless of how you feel about Obama, whether you'd vote for him or not, he has to be admired for what he's done. To wrap up: this full moon is about embracing change - moving towards a higher state of being, embracing our higher selves, being prepared to take a step into the unknown, letting go of reactions and anger (the temptation of Pluto and Mars in this grand cross), and to dance and laugh as we grow and improve!
