RAY WEBB 13/1/1928 - 12/1/2008 Ray was editor and publisher of the longest running Australian Astrology magazine – Astrological Monthly Review (AMR).Ray wrote his first ‘Fun-Sign’ astrological column in 1947 under the ‘Pen-Name’ of Madam Scorpio and since then has written under dozens of alter egos, and occasionally his own name. Publications he has written for include Sky Channel Racing, Tooths KB Chronicle, Elle Magazine, Weight Watchers Magazine, The Australian Good-Taste Magazine and 36 books for Pan Macmillan. His world record breaking radio series “Your Day By The Stars” ran for over 28 years with the last one going to airr on December 31 2007 produced by IRS Grace Gibson Radio Productions. No other radio series comes within ten years of that record. Ray was a former President of the original Federation of Astrologers (NSW). He served from 1977 to 1980. During that period he convened the highly successful International Astrology Conference for the FAA at the University of NSW in Sydney. As Editor/Publisher of Astrological Monthly Review he has been a great supporter of organised astrology with thousands of dollars in free publicity . Astrological Monthly Review remains the only publication (in the world) to have honoured well over 200 astrologers in various ways for perceived dedication to the art/science. Ray presented a series of 15 lectures for the American Federation of Astrologers, and was presented with their best lecturer award – a rare honour for a foreigner. Ray claimed that if you manage to live long enough and simply keep ‘hacking away’ on various projects you will manage to accomplish a great deal.He believes that the greatest thing a person can do in their lifetime is to help others reach their potential – this principle has led him to publish the first works of hundreds of astrologers - many who have become extremely well known and respected in their chosen profession. Ray will be missed by astrologers world wide but in particualr to those her in Australia to whom he gave so much support and encouragement.
